Hi! and welcome to my web site. My name is Addyson Mae Delcalzo.

I was born with a condition called giant congenital melanocytic nevus.  One in 500,000 babies are born with this condition.  The large mark on the back of my head is called a nevus.  The small marks on the rest of my body are called satellites.  I have already gotten more satellites than I was born with and more are likely to appear for the rest of my life.  Complications that can arise from my condition are skin cancer and neurocutaneous melanocytosis.  This condition would arise if these pigment cells (melanocytes) enter the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord).  This condition can be fatal.  I will also likely have fewer functioning sweat glands, and less fat in the area of my nevus.  My first biopsy and MRI came back clear.  (YAY!)  I’ve already had my first surgery and your generous donations will help me complete the other two surgeries needed to lower my risk of these serious complications.
